Why Absolute Fiction?

An introductory note from Sajid Rizvi, Commissioning Editor for the series:

The phrase 'absolute fiction' comes loaded with suggestions of contradiction, denial and, possibly, passionate interaction. When we react to a statement, heard, read or otherwise propagated, with the assertion that it may be absolute fiction! we tend to put considerable passion in our own words, often perhaps to compensate for lack of conviction. Absolute fiction, therefore, may be neither absolute nor indeed entirely fiction.

It has been suggested that the term 'absolute fiction' brings immediately to mind a rather effective advertising catchphrase now almost entirely associated with a particular brew. Alas, no such thought association is intended.

Saffron Absolute Fiction Series is focused on new, quality fiction from creative domains not well known to or poorly represented in a largely western English-speaking world that comprises the industrial or industrialising countries, a world in which regions such as South Asia, Africa and the Caribbean still are objects of rediscovery.
